Running Drills • 18/04/2026A Skip
A Skip is a rhythmic, plyometric movement where each step includes a small hop driven by one leg while the opposite knee is actively lifted toward hip height. As you land, you quickly transition onto the other foot and repeat, maintaining an upright posture, active arm drive, and a light, springy contact with the ground.
Benefits: A Skip develops elasticity, coordination, and power application through the stride cycle. It reinforces an efficient knee drive and encourages strong push-off from the ground, helping athletes develop better force production and timing. It also improves running rhythm and ground contact mechanics, teaching runners to stay light, balanced, and reactive rather than heavy or passive through each step. Over time, this contributes to improved running economy, better cadence, and more efficient forward propulsion.
